So I haven't been able to shake this cough/cold that I've had for the last month and it's becoming pretty frustrating. Last night I was having yet another coughing fit (you know, it always seems like as soon as you lay your head on your pillow, it decides to flare up) when all of a sudden, I coughed twice really hard and instantly had pain in my side. Well, after a visit to the doctor this afternoon for my third dose of antibiotics and now some cough syrup (YAY!), he told me that I have a cracked rib.
I don't think I've experienced a pain like this and I can't imagine people that have had to deal with multiple broken ribs, but this is no fun. The pain is around my pectoral area/armpit on my left side and permeates back to my shoulder blade. It hurts to cough, sneeze, blow my nose, laugh, or pretty move my arm....I hear it's a bit of a process to heal and I know that it hurts to lay on my back and oh, my side too... boy, I can't wait for bed tonight! (sarcasm)
